Ambassador spoils GB Lions
A great year for the British American Football Association (BAFA) and the women’s international programme was topped off in style with some rather high-brow networking on Saturday.
Invited to attend the Ambassador of the United States of America’s Regents Park residence for a reception in honour of the NFL coming to Wembley, Lions’ and GB Quarterback Jo Kilby joined a delegation of Great Britain Women’s American Football representatives which included Head Coach Jim Messenger and Team Captain Beverley Marwood. “It was a fantastic evening” offered Kilby, “…we were able to meet some of the good and great from the American Football elite including receiving a warm welcome from Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who congratulated us on GB team’s success to date, which was pretty memorable.”
After a tour of (the lower levels of) Ambassador Barzun’s residence – taking in some fantastic contemporary art along the way – the team were treated to drinks and canapés at every turn; not a bad 12 months for the sport, for the Lions or for Kilby either we say.
