Funds will go 4x4xfar
It’s congratulations again as Birmingham Lions revel in yet more success, this time by bringing home a funding award, courtesy of Land Rover and its Solihull Community Committee.
Granted a superb £1,000 – which will contribute to much needed kit and equipment – club captain Jo Kilby was thrilled: “We’re delighted to receive this generous award and particularly grateful to be in receipt of funds that have been donated by Land Rover’s employees themselves” – given as part of the company’s Give As You Earn scheme, Land Rover then matches contributions in equal measure before awarding funds to local groups, charities and initiatives.
In applying for the award it was necessary for recipient groups to be represented by an employee. In step Wide Receiver Rachel Trim. Having joined the well-known automotive giant in September 2014, as a Manufacturing Launch Engineer, Rachel is a University of Birmingham alumni who joined the Lions as a rookie this season. “I applied to the Committee for the award because I knew the team would benefit from the extra funds in order to support its ability to grow and progress the sport. In the last year the team has personally given me so much that I felt this was a good way to give something back in return.”
May we take this opportunity to thank Rachel for her contribution to the team and of course to Land Rover for their fantastic show of support for the Lions and indeed local sport in general.
