After graduating from the Lions first championship winning team in 2005, Ryan joined the staff as an assistant offensive line coach. His first task as a coach was to observe in Lubbock Texas, as the staff spent time with Coach Mike Leach and Texas Tech.

Since that time, Ryan has coached every offensive position on the Lions offence, finally specialising in quarterbacks for the last few years. His experience across the offence now allowshim to be the right hand man of Offensive Co-ordinator, Paul Cooper.
Ryan was named Lions Assistant Head Coach in 2007 and has held that role ever since, helping the Lions reach multiple National Finals as well as assisting both Wayne Hill and Tony Athersmith win Championships as Head Coaches.
Over the last 9 years, Ryan has had multiple spells with the Great Britain American Football teams, first holding a position on the youth staff as Tight Ends Coach and later moving to the adult staff where he moved into and coached three different roles. Ryan now exclusively serves the GB Lions Student team as their Quarterbacks coach. In 2013, Ryan was selected to coach quarterbacks for the IFAF World Development Team. Based at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, Ryan helped a multi cultural group develop over the 1 week camp. This also allowed Ryan to observeHeisman Trophy winner, Chris Weinke, coach and develop NFL QB prospects pre-draft.
Ryan will again take charge of the Lions Quarterbacks and looks forward to working with a talented and hard working group.
